Privacy Policy
Talon · Effective October 7, 2026
Talon ("we") is a security-operations platform used by licensed security companies ("Companies") to run their patrol operations. Each Company controls the data it enters into Talon about its employees, clients and the properties it protects; Talon processes that data on the Company's behalf. This policy explains what the platform collects and why. For questions about how a specific Company uses your information, contact that Company directly.
Information we collect
- Officers (employees): name, employee ID, phone, email, BSIS guard-card and firearm-permit numbers and expiration dates; clock-in/out times; GPS location when clocking in or out, submitting reports, scanning checkpoints, recording parking notices, and periodically while on duty with the app open; photos you take in the app (stamped with time, location and your name); the text of your reports; device battery level.
- Office staff and clients: name, email, phone, login activity.
- Residents (safelist form): name, unit/space, phone, email, guest name, vehicle plate/make/model/color, requested dates, and the IP address of the submission.
- Vehicles observed on patrol: license plate, state, description, location and photos of parking violations.
- People involved in incidents: descriptions and photos recorded by officers as part of an incident or dispatch report.
How we use it
To staff and verify security patrols at client properties; to produce the activity, incident and parking reports Companies deliver to their clients; to enforce each property's parking rules; to dispatch officers to calls for service; for payroll and scheduling; for officer safety; to audit service quality; and to meet Companies' legal obligations as licensed security providers.
Location data
Officer location is collected only while signed in and on duty (clocked in), and only while the Talon app is open or in the foreground. It is used to verify presence at the assigned post, for dispatch, and for officer safety. It is not collected off duty.
Sharing
Reports, photos, incident and parking records about a property are shared with that property's client by the Company. Companies may share information with law enforcement when required by law or when an incident is reported to police. Talon uses service providers to host the application, store photos and send email; they process data only on our instructions. Talon does not sell personal information and never uses one Company's data for another.
Retention
Operational records (reports, photos, incidents, parking notices, dispatch logs) are retained for the Company's contractual and legal retention period (typically three years), then deleted or anonymized. Safelist requests are retained for 24 months. Account data is retained while the account is active and for 90 days after a Company closes its account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our hosting providers. Access is role-based: officers see only their own activity; clients see only their own properties. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
Your rights
California residents may request access to or deletion of their personal information under the CCPA/CPRA, subject to legal retention obligations. Employees may review their records through their Company. Contact your Company, or Talon at privacy@talonguard.org.
Children
Talon is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
